Reunions

It’s so nice to know that every now and then there are celebrations like these that bond people together. I’m such a sucker for family reunions. I love the family feel. The security and closeness that even if you fail or got broken you know deep down in yourself that they have your back and will never be alone. I know that family has different structures and different core. They also have different tradition. Well as for my family I would have to say that bonding for us means eating together. You see my grandmother and grandfather on my mom’s side loves to eat. Even if they are already 81 years old they still have the satisfaction in eating in a new restaurant and discovering the tastes of food they offer. My grandmother loves cooking so she has picky taste buds. Most of the time when eating a restaurant we would discuss which food we like and the food we don’t but once it passes in our taste bud we would always go there to eat every family celebrations. I remember the time when my grandmother and grandfather loved to eat at Kowloon West House because of the delicious yet affordable and very large serving. The addiction lasted for years as every birthday celebration was celebrated there. However, my grandparents becomes bored with the place and tried our luck in eat all you can restaurants. After, so many tries, we have now our new favorite restaurant and that is Jade Valley where we ate our lunch today. I know that in my previous post I said that it was in dimsum break but what can I do my grandmother has a fickle mind so the venue was changed. Also, its her birthday she can pick wherever to eat. :)

Birthday Girl having a blast!

The place was not new to us so we feel at home going there. We have just eaten there for I think 4 or 5 times over the years. I remember the last time we went there and the food was not that amazing and consider not eating there anymore however my grandmother still pursued that her birthday celebration be celebrated there so we have no choice but to go there. Unexpectedly, the food was amazingly good!!! It’s really yummy and for a 225 pesos eat-all-you-can the place was also great! The 225 pesos payment also includes 1 glass of iced tea. There are over 25 dishes to choose from. These 25 dishes contain soup, appetizer and desserts. Here are some of the foods that they served when we ate there a while ago :)

Tray of foods
As I have said these foods are so yummy and they are really something to crave about. My favorite dish was actually the fried chicken and the fried wanton balls. What can I do? I love fried anything. Well for all its worth, I am so full and have eaten a lot too. Excited to eat there again!

P.S. Before I forgot, thanks mom for the pics. Well, she was the one who took all the pictures in this entry. Yeah, I know Im such a lucky girl to have a mom like her. So supportive! ^_^

Ebooks

For the past two days, I know I would be very bored at home. So, in order to be productive during the vacation days I decided to wash my clothes and clean my room for the past two days. I am so productive that in between my household chores I have window shopped some ebooks during my break and bought some that I really do like to read. For the past two days of being super productive I decided that today would be my offline and Me time day which means that I would just read my backlog series Ghostgirl. Its not that I don't have the time to read the series but the sad part was I don't have yet its second book so I don't want to read the third as I would want to read it simultaneously. I have actually finish the ghostgirl book one months ago but haven't started the second book as I have not yet bought any copy yet even though I already got the third book. But since I got the chance to have some online ebook shopping, I have now the second book. Once, I got the hold of it, I have started my reading marathon and was in a different world today. It was fun having a downtime with an ebook in hand. I finished the 2 books in one day.

source
Ghostgirl was actually a girl who died because she choked from a gummy bear. Well the reason for death was kinda light but then again the girl who died has big issues and insecurity. Though, don't take my word for it as this is all about highschool issues. It is a light read for teens. This book actually teaches kids to be themselves as popularity and conforming to norms in school would actually pass as you get older. It also tackles about the drama kids face during adolescence. I think its also nice for parents to read this book to understand their rebellous/insecure daughters.

Well its fun to read and for once realize that you have once or twice gone that phase and after reading it you will be smiling to yourself that you know how it felt like and your happy that you have now overcome those petty things as you aged.

Now off I go to my next ebook conquest ^_^

My Sample Room Hauls

Some months ago, a website has launch in the midst of the sample beauty boxes phenomenon. I, myself, would want to subscribe for a sample beauty box just to try the hang of it but I find it expensive and afraid that the products would not suite my sensitive skin. Then one day in twitter, I saw someone that I am following tweeted about sample room. So what I did was go to their website then check out what it is. Back then, the website was still under construction and I just subscribed to their email updates. I waited impatiently and was excited when they announce the date of their website launch.

Though, I was bummed when their website crashed due to the volume of people simultaneously access that day and so, they run out of their first batch of samples and I am not one of them. But this does not hinder me from going to their website from time to time. Luckily, they re-stock fast so when I saw that I have now my chance to order my first samples from sample room.

You see when you sign up in sample room; you will be given 100 points to get a product. The 100 points was free of charge. So it means that you get free product sample! But of course, you have to pay for its shipping fee for 100 pesos but you get maximum of 3 free sample products which cost more than 100 pesos as sometime they have full size samples. Full size samples means having the products in their original size! They also have many payment methods so all you have to do is choose which the convenient one for you is! Another great part of sample room are the people running it. They are so friendly, patient and fast in replying either in email or twitter! Sample room is so great that I have already gotten my 4th batch! Yes! You guess it right I am satisfied with their service and still waiting for them to re-stock and process my 5th. 6th and so on, and so forth!

Balance

When I was young I kept on thinking why must one do such chores. They are annoying and also bothersome. As a child, I’d rather play outside instead of doing the chores. I abhorred washing the dishes at the age of 6. Yep, I am the eldest child so I must learn how to take care of some simple chores; I guess this is how my mom would teach me responsibility. Though, though for a young child you won’t understand it and would treat it as a punishment. So, since then I dodge this kind of responsibility by just hanging out and eating in my grandma’s place where grandpa would be the one to clean the dishes. I guess in my grandparents’ house I was spoiled back then. However, I never have totally turned my back on household chores. I remember when I was in high school that I would enjoy ironing my clothes. Papa was the one who taught me how to iron my pants properly. Then came the time when I enjoyed washing my clothes. I love doing this task. Before this tasks are just responsibility for me. But then, I use household chores to lose weight too. It was in my 4th year high school when I decided to lose weight and have diet myself. Since I don’t have the means to attend aerobics classes and also hating exercise, I decided to just clean the house to lose weight. Whenever I clean the house I would carry all the sofas and tables on one corner, once the living room is empty I would now sweep, scrub and put floor wax on the floor. Once done, I will repeat it again on the dining and kitchen. So when I’m done I’m already sweating so much. It was fun doing those while listening to the radio. I remember listening back then to cool 106.

Years have passed and now I realize that household chores are important but besides the fact that you have to. It’s more of a way of releasing some extra stress from your body once you go home. How you may ask? Ever wonder when you go home and so stress then you started slicing some veggies and meat, your mind, instead of thinking about work, will drift off to the aroma and ingredients you are preparing. Then after cooking, you will be eating your dish and will feel satisfied after doing that. Compare it when you are just watching television, your mind will wonder for a time but after the show your stress at work will go back. Remember the time when something is bothering you then you started washing your clothes? Then while washing your clothes you started feeling calm and started analyzing things then suddenly you have your answer like a eureka moment. It seems to me now that household chores are also cathartic like reading a book, watching a TV or playing online games. But chores gives me a feeling this sense of fulfillment. Now wonder some mothers opted to just be housewives and a simple mom because there is no greater fulfillment than doing service to her child while some would still go to work and just juggle their time for both motherhood and working mom. It is so wonderful that, we, as women are so strong and this is due to the chores that are cathartic to us. This chores that children abhors was actually brings sanity into women’s busy, crazy life.

Misty face

I was looking for an affordable facial mists for months now and luckily I found an affordable one from g-lish Trinoma.

A facial mist is used for moisturizing the face and cooling it down during hot summer days. These things also sets your makeup too and help it to last long like primer. Though, g-lish facial mist just cools and moisturizes the face.

Having a dry face these babies are a big help for me during summer days as I need to freshen up and moisturize. They are handy to carry and just a spray away from moisture. It doesn't also hurt that it is just Php 190. Its so affordable that you can easily buy another bottle once you have run out of it. There are two variants the aloe vera and cucumber. I choose cucumber first because I love cucumber scented product but would buy the aloe vera once I've used up the one that I brought. Hehehe so much for being adik in facial mists during summer. ^_^

Thank you for the New Toy!

I am not really fond of touch screen mobile phone. I don't like the idea of touching the screen whenever you are texting and calling. I am a type of girl who wants her phone to have keypads separated from her screen so that whatever happens you still press keys away from your screen. However, when the touch screen mobile phones bit my sister. She told me that once she replace her Myphone A818 mobile phone, she will give it to me. Alas, I thought she was joking when she told me this but knowing my sister, she is never joking about stuff like that and she is generous to me as I am to her (ehem! hahahahah I can't help it but its true because I am older than her so I must play the loving older sister that I am hahahaha).

Ok, back to the story, so when she bought her new and bigger new Myphone A919 which have higher specs and bigger screen. She now gave me her old Myphone A818 which have these cool features:

Cool right?!?! wow2 onion headBut the good part is that I can now blog using my phone!!!! You see as you have read in my previous entry, the reason I don't blog regularly is due to the fact that when I am already home I don't like to open any computers as I want to just relax and watch some entertainment over television. Now that I have a toy where I could blog from it then I can now access/update my blog at the tips of my finger! How lucky can I get right? thats why I can now blog anywhere as long as there is Internet connection! Yey!!!! Here's the look of my cool phone:

Cute right?! Pink and Black is really my thing and my sister also gave this mobile phone protector. How lucky can I get right?

To you dearest sister, Thank you so much for my toy! so HAPPY! wow1 onion headhappy onion head

The delayed birthday message

As you all know, yesterday was grandmother's 81st birthday and due to terrible headache I have not sent a proper message to the birthday girl. So here goes the delayed message that I hope she can read online or rather I will let her read on Maundy Thursday when I don't have work and I have all the time in the world to teach her how to browse my blog thru her android tab toy.

Well here goes, Lola thank you for being my biggest supporter and hater. I know we do have a perfect grandmother and granddaughter relationship and by perfect, it means that we do get to fight a lot due to differences but you never let me feel left out nor you let that little squabbles lie in your heart. Maybe, thats why you have a good heart because you never kept hatred in it. Thank you for being such the coolest lola in the whole wide world by being cool it means beating the crap out of me during our bubble shooter game. By cool, you know how to use a mobile phone and know how to use the tab. I'm so proud and happy that you are my grandmother because I will never enjoy my whole 28 years without our moments of fun and shouting match. You are the best lola for me because you have love all of me the good and the bad. You always give me parental guidance whenever I'm wrong and for securing me not to commit major mistakes. Maybe, the reason why I am like this is because you have molded me into this person without overstepping your boundaries. Thank you so much Lord for bringing her into our lives. It would never be such a miraculous and wonderful moment without this 81 years old lady. I could not thank enough the Lord that he have blessed you with such a long life and I do pray that both you and lolo would live up until I have my children so that they could meet their great grand mother and great grand father. Live strong and health grandma, I TOTALLY LOVE YOU SO MUCH! victory onion head

Attending Birthday

wow2 onion head
Today is my grandmother's 81st birthday (which I fondly called her debut because when you switch the numbers' place you will have 18). The birthday girl woke up early today and have started to prepare for the 6:00 am mass that my grandfather always attends to every morning. However, due to the bipolar weather of our country, my grandmother did not continue to pursue attending mass as it was raining and she doesn't want to get wet as this will only result to her being sick.

whistling onion head

So instead of attending the mass, she just stayed home and prettify her nails. Yeah, cutting finger nails was the first thing that she did that morning where she turned 81. Yes, I do find it funny because of all the things that you can do for your birthday she did the most natural thing one person does. But since she is already 81 and still can do that?! Whoa its a great blessing and also miraculous too. I, for one, would never think that I could  reach that age.

Her day was so warm. Since its also a Monday, there is work that I should attend to. So, this means doing some work tasks and applying for my meds reimbursements. Though, this results to a headache that extends until I went home.

The house birthday celebration was composed of palabok, roasted lemon chicken, chinese quikiam, sweet and sour pork spareribs and steamed fish with mayo sauce. Since I had a headache I didn't remember to take some pictures for my blog. Though I eat my heart out. Hence, the headache attacked me again terribly and vomitted four times. Since this is the case I have no choice but to drink paracetamol and cold water to ease the pain. Alas! I have slept after that! So much for a birthday extravaganza for my Grandmom!sweetdrop onion head

Family food trip

Well last friday, my grandmother was on the hunt of a restaurant where she will celebrate her 81st birthday on next saturday.

Since I have been bugging her on eating at bonchon then she ask me and granpa to go with her to eat there. She has not yet eaten at bonchon so she needs to taste it first before treating our family there. Luckily, my brother, his wife, mom and the baby is also going to sm north so they fetch us in our home then off we go to sm north.

When we arrive we go directly at bonchon.

We ordered their team bonchon group meal which consist medium box or 6pcs chicken thighs, 4 rice, chapchae, kimchi coleslaw, upgraded the fries to onion rings and 4 drinks. The chicken flavor was soy as we dont like spicy foods. Then my mom added some calamari and grandma add some soy fried fish fillet. Sadly, the food serving was not good enough for us 6 people so we added 3 extra rice.

Though my grandpa is still not satisfied with his food so when we parted with my bro, his wife and mom and passed by dimsum break which is just beside bonchon my grandpa nagged my grandma to check out the menu.

When they saw that it was a
chinese cuisine my grandparents lit up and checkout the prices. They became really happy when they saw that the price per order was very affordable!

When we enter the restaurant I immediately look for a convenient table for us to settle down while my grandparents went to the counter to order some food to taste. While waiting for them I notice the bamboo steamers that has been the ceiling fixtures of the place. I find it cute and unique. Perfect for a dimsum restaurant design.

So the question now is the taste. What they did was order some food that we will just share as we have just eaten lunch. What they order was 1 original steamed rice, 1 steamed fish, 1 steamed hakao and 1 leche flan for dessert. We did not order any drinks so service water was served to us.

With the price we did not expect anything with the taste but we were shocked that the food was really yummy!

Therefore after eating there it was now decided that on her bday celebration next saturday would be there!
